Election Day is just three days away, so the HashOut team headed to the battleground state of Ohio to hear what voters are thinking. First stop: Cleveland.
We walked around a very windy and cold downtown (temperatures dipped into the 40s), which is just beginning to recover from Hurricane Sandy. As we looked for voters, we saw uprooted trees and office buildings with broken windows and busted exteriors. But the cold and the wind did not keep some very opinionated people from sharing their thoughts on the upcoming election with us.
We interviewed people on the street, asking them our question of the day: What is the best reason to vote for Barack Obama on Election Day? People generally spoke to the president's economic plans, health care reform, his stance on women's issues and his swift reaction to Hurricane Sandy.
But there were also people who did not support Obama's re-election. We asked them why they thought GOP challenger Mitt Romney was a better candidate. One young man said he disagrees with Obama's foreign policy and believes Romney would encourage more capitalism.
My favorite response was from a Vietnam veteran who said the best possible, yet unlikely, scenario for him would be to vote for a President Obama, whom he called a "man of the people," and a Vice President Romney. He said he felt Romney would do a good job handling the economy.
In a perfect world, wouldn't it be great if we could pick and choose and even combine any candidates we wanted onto a single ticket?
Let us know what you think. What is the best reason to vote for Obama on Election Day?
